The Coloured Valentino

Book By Beverly Andrews

“A generation of artists, who thought the sky, was the limit. Only to find out there was very much a glass ceiling”

The Coloured Valentino tells the little known story of the early African-American film industry, in the

1920’s and 1930’s and two of its biggest stars, film director and producer, the legendary Oscar

Micheaux and one of his biggest stars, Lorenzo Tucker.  Nicknamed, the Coloured Valentino because

of his resemblance to the matinee idol.
